House Rules

Hygiene

To ensure a clean and safe training environment, Amersfoort BJJ asks everyone to strictly follow the following hygiene guidelines:

  • Make sure your gi, rashguard, leggings and fightshorts are clean and fresh for each workout. It is essential that your clothing is not smelly or wet to show respect for your training partners.

  • Enter the mat only with bare feet. Slippers or shoes should be worn outside the mat, even during short trips such as to the restroom. This keeps the mat clean and free of dirt.

  • Wash your hands and feet thoroughly, even after each toilet visit. Good personal hygiene is crucial because of the intense physical contact during classes.

  • Small wounds such as blisters or cuts should be properly covered with a band-aid or sports tape. If blood gets on the mat, please indicate it and we will disinfect it immediately.

  • If there are any signs of an infectious disease, infection or rash, we kindly request that you stay home until you have fully recovered.

  • Maintain your mouth guard and water bottle regularly, preferably with dental cleaning tablets for optimal maintenance.

  • Use as little makeup as possible before training. Make-up can come off with touch and sweat, affecting the cleanliness of both workout clothes and the mat.

By abiding by these rules, together we will help keep Amersfoort BJJ a healthy, hygienic and enjoyable place for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to a clean sports environment.

Safety

Safety is our top priority at Amersfoort BJJ and we ask that you observe the following measures to keep everyone safe:

  • Keep your hand and toenails short to avoid scratching and to prevent nails from tearing or snagging during exercise.

  • Do not train in torn or damaged clothing. Loose pieces of fabric can lead to unintentional injuries by snagging fingers or toes.

  • During No-Gi grappling training we recommend wearing a tight rashguard, leggings and fightshorts instead of a loose T-shirt to avoid trapping your fingers, during Gi training it is mandatory to wear a rashguard under your Gi for hygiene.

  • The use of a crotch guard and mouth guard is optional, but recommended for added safety. Knee and ear guards are also popular with practitioners of BJJ to prevent unnecessary injuries.

  • Always consider the safety of yourself and your training partner. There are several people on the mat, stay in your own training zone.

Your cooperation is essential to ensure a safe training space where everyone can train and grow with confidence. Together we can create an environment where safety and respect are paramount.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu falls under the category of " Martial Arts." A fundamental aspect of this is having respect for each other. Aggressive behavior in any form is under no circumstances tolerated at BJJ Amersfoort.
